SCI hikes freight rates on India-Europe service
Mumbai: India’s largest shipping company by fleet size Shipping Corp of India Ltd (SCI) has hiked freight rate on container cargo moving from Indian sub-continent to Europe sector.
SCI, which is also national flag carrier, increased the freight rate by $200 per twenty-foot container effective 1 July 2011. A media release said the increase is for all the bookings to North Europe, UK, Mediterranean and Black Sea routes.
The statement said the rate hike is imperative at this point to meet the overall operations costs and, hence, to serve the trade efficiently.
