New York: Federal authorities say they’ve raided 7-Eleven convenience stores in two US states as part of a probe into human smuggling, identity theft and money laundering.
The investigation involves allegations that store owners helped smuggle workers into the US from Pakistan. Some store owners and managers were arrested on Monday. More than a dozen workers have been taken into custody by immigration.
The 7-Eleven company said in a statement that it has been cooperating with federal authorities. It had no further comment.
