Scientist M. Nair Rajeevan appointed Earth sciences secretary

New Delhi: Renowned Scientist M. Nair Rajeevan was on Saturday appointed as the secretary to the ministry of Earth sciences here. The 54-year-old scientist is presently director at Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology in Pune.

His appointment as Earth sciences secretary has been approved by the appointments committee of cabinet, an order issued by department of personnel and training said, without mentioning his tenure.

In a separate development, the appointments committee of cabinet on Thursday extended additional charge of the post assigned to Prof. K. VijayRaghavan, secretary, department of biotechnology, for a period of three months beyond 30 November or till appointment of a regular incumbent. PTI
