Cyclone Vardah likely to make landfall near Chennai today

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that the very severe cyclonic storm, Vardah, would make a landfall close to Chennai on Monday afternoon. “It is very likely to cross northern Tamil Nadu and southern Andhra Pradesh coasts, close to Chennai as a cyclonic storm with a wind speed of 80-90 kmph gusting to 100 kmph by 12 December 2016 afternoon," the IMD said.
