New Delhi: There will be a 10% discount on the basic fare of vacant seats on premier trains—Rajdhani, Duronto and Shatabdi—after the preparation of the first chart with effect from 20 December 2016, the Railways said on Monday after a review of the flexi fare system.

In addition, the class-wise tatkal quota earmarked in these trains would be reduced to 10% of the total class-wise accommodation and a fortnightly review of the utilization of these tatkal quotas would be undertaken by the Railways. Accordingly the quota might be increased up to a maximum of 30% of the total class-wise accommodation in the train, according to a statement by the railways ministry.

Also, the Railways has decided to give discounts on fare for AC chair car on selected sections of two Shatabdi trains—the New Delhi-Ajmer Shatabdi Express and the Chennai Central-Mysore Shatabdi Express. The sections on which concession is being offered are Ajmer-Jaipur, Jaipur-Kishangarh and Mysore- Bengaluru.
