Anantnag encounter: Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist Abu Dujana escapes
Abu Dujana was earlier believed to be killed in the encounter in south Kashmir's Anantnag district
New Delhi: A top Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist Abu Dujana was involved in a shootout between terrorists and security forces late Wednesday night and early Thursday morning, but managed to escape.
Dujana was earlier believed to be killed in the encounter in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
“A search operation was launched at Hassanpora village in Bijbehara area of Anantnag early morning following specific intelligence inputs about the presence of militants in the village. The security forces were conducting a search operation following the tip-off, when the militants opened fire at them and that triggered the encounter," a senior Jammu & Kashmir police official said on condition of anonymity.
Dujana, one of the most wanted militants in the valley, had made several appearances in the protest rallies that had been staged in Kashmir, following the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen leader, Burhan Wani, earlier this year.
