New Delhi: Standing by Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) held a demonstration in front of the German embassy in the capital on Monday and also submitted a memorandum to the German ambassador seeking an apology for the “provocative" statements by a member of a German delegation against Modi.

“Describing Modi as a dictator is intolerable. Tarnishing the image of a democratically elected chief minister by visiting German officials is unacceptable," party vice-president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said after submitting the memorandum.

The delegation members, who visited Gujarat to study the status of minorities, reportedly justified the European Union’s earlier decision of not granting a visa to Modi.
