BJP slams govt over 2G spectrum pricing
New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Satudday criticized the Central government for pricing telecom spectrum at ₹ 14,000 Crore which is 22% lower than the recommendations by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) and sought to know what prompted the Union cabinet to take this decision.
He alleged that not even once had the government provided any justification for deciding this price.
The cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, on Friday agreed to price 5 MHz of airwaves in the 1,800 MHz band at the lower end of the ₹ 14,000-15,000 crore reserve price band suggested by a ministers’ group.
