What is it? The amount of time it will take for the goods and services tax (GST) system to stabilise, according to revenue secretary Hasmukh Adhia.

Why is it important? Businesses have been complaining the GST, introduced on 1 July, was supposed to lower costs and increase efficiencies, but that hasn’t happened so far. And now, it seems, it will take an uncomfortable while.

Tell me more: Adhia indicated that, as part of the “overhaul", GST rates might change for some items.

What is it? The number of American companies whose representatives will interact with Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath today to explore investment opportunities in the state.

Why is it important? UP has fared poorly in drawing industrial investments. In 2016, only 16 new industrial projects were implemented for a total investment was Rs522 crore, ranking UP a poor 16 among all states.

Why is it important? This was the most by any company from India, and translated to a growth of 6% for Maruti over the corresponding period. It also shows that auto exports from India, which have emerged in this decade, remain on the growth path.

Tell me more: Maruti was followed by Volkswagen, General Motors and Hyundai. Among countries, India is ranked 20 in car exports.
