An Indian man missing for 40 years reunited with his family after a YouTube video of him singing a popular Hindi film song went viral. Firoze Shakir, a street photographer, shot the video and uploaded it to YouTube in October last year. Khomdram Gambhir Singh was 26 when in 1978 he left his home in Imphal and never returned. For four decades his family heard nothing. Then a clip showing a grey-bearded man singing a Bollywood song on a Mumbai street 3,300 kilometres away appeared online.

Facebook says data on most of its 2 billion users could have been accessed improperly, giving fresh evidence of the ways the social-media giant failed to protect people’s privacy. The company said it removed a feature that let users enter phone numbers or email addresses into Facebook’s search tool to find other people. British analytics firm Cambridge Analytica has sought more time to respond to the questions sent to it by the IT Ministry on issues related to data of Indians collected by the firm, its intermediaries, or associates.

Since the launch of Swachh Bharat Mission in 2014, there is Rs40.31 crore with the Delhi government that has been lying idle as not one toilet has been constructed in the city. A report by he Comptroller and Auditor general (CAG) found that municipal corporations in the national capital constructed some toilets, from their own funds, under their own schemes and were willing to adjust under the Swachh Bharat scheme. The report also stated that the Aam Aadmi Party government didn’t allocate the centre and state funds to the agencies that would oversee the toilet construction.

Amazon has held early exploratory talks to buy Flipkart even as the latter closes in on a sale to Walmart. Other than Amazon and Walmart, Google also offered to invest in the e-commerce firm at a valuation of $15-16 billion. Flipkart is seen as one of the most attractive assets in the global internet economy. Launched in 2007, Flipkart has, so far, raised more than $6 billion. Apart from its eponymous platform, Flipkart owns fashion businesses Myntra and Jabong, eBay India and mobile payments firm PhonePe.

While Suzuki will supply its Baleno and Vitara Brezza to Toyota, it will source Toyota’s Corolla and sell it through Maruti Suzuki dealerships. The coming together of Toyota, the world’s largest automobile company, and Suzuki, which dominates the Indian market, underlines the importance of the local passenger vehicle market that is expected to triple to 9.4 million units by 2026 from 3.2 million now if the economy grows at an average rate of 5.8% a year, according to the government’s Auto Mission Plan 2016-26.

A bias towards men over women in the workplace, both in terms of hiring and salaries offered, is seen across blue and white collar jobs in India. Even jobs that depicted less bias at the time of advertisement were seen to reflect a gender pay gap. More than a third of all job advertisements in India explicitly specify the preferred gender of the prospective employee, which more often than not is male. Six in every 10 such jobs prefer male candidates, even as women continue to be preferred for low-quality, low-status and low-paid informal jobs, a new World Bank report has found.
