Anecdotal evidence may suggest that citizens’ involvement in philanthropy is on the rise.

But how effective are the contributions in making an impact? While it is tough to measure the impact of giving, the perception of donors is important in scaling up their involvement.

According to 2013 Bain and Co. report, donors and non-governmental organizations (NGO) do believe their contributions are making an impact, but donors tend to feel that NGOs can improve the impact they make and also communicate the impact better and more frequently to the donors.
