Sandeep Dikshit, the son of the former Delhi chief minister and present Kerala governor Sheila Dikshit is seeking re-election to the Lok Sabha from the East Delhi constituency.

Along with some associates, he manages two companies—Bhopal Eco Farms Pvt. Ltd and Sanket Information and Research Agency Pvt. Ltd. Bhopal Eco Farms was started to undertake work in organic farming and Sanket in rural development consulting, Dikshit said in an emailed response to queries. He said neither company had actually done any business so far.

His wife Mona Dikshit holds a 2% stake in Shamil Milk Products Ltd and is a director on the board of Sarvodaya Nano Finance Ltd. “My wife is a rural development professional with over 24 years of work experience in rural livelihood support, development of community-based organizations, and rural microfinance for livelihood support," Dikshit said. Since 2001, Mona Dikshit has been an employee of BASIX, a microfinance institution, he said.

Over the next month and a half, while voters elect a new government for India, Mint will profile the business interests of prominent politicians using data from the corporate affairs ministry’s database.
