Ang Lee wins best director Oscar for ‘Life of Pi’

Lee thanks author Yann Martel

Hollywood: Taiwan-born director Ang Lee collected the Oscar for best director Sunday for Life of Pi, the epic film adaptation of Canadian novelist Yann Martel’s tale of a boy in a lifeboat with a live tiger.

“Thank you, movie god," said Lee—who also won best director in 2006 for Brokeback Mountain—as he thanked Martel “for writing this wonderful inspiring book," as well as the cast and crew of the film.
