Bluestar BS-AP450SANS is priced at Rs19,990.

At first glance, the BS-AP450SANS looks a lot like the Whirlpool Purafresh W440 purifier, complete with wing inserts on the sides. The sophisticated silver finish will blend well into your living room or bedroom. The control panel is on the top, with clearly marked buttons, while the colour-coded air quality indicator lighting is on the front. Since the air intake vent is at the back, it would be ideal to place this a few inches away from the wall or any piece of furniture, to allow maximum air flow into the purifier’s filters. It has wheels, which makes moving this between different rooms a breeze.

The BS-AP450SANS has a 420 m3/h CADR and is powerful enough to clean a room around 430 sq. ft (40sq. m) in size. In something that is reminiscent of the technology that Panasonic uses in its home air purifiers, Bluestar has used a technology called nanoe, which emits electrostatic atomized water particles into the air that neutralize unseen airborne microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses and moulds.

In a 40 sq. m room, air quality is maintained at around 20μg/m3 of particulate matter (PM) in auto mode. There is also a dedicated mode for removing odour quicker. The clean air dispersion from the vent at the top is very good and allows quick circulation—as testified by the stable air quality ratings even in the furthest corners of the room.

The Bluestar BS-AP450SANS faces tough competition from the Atlanta Healthcare Universal 450 (450 sq. ft coverage; Rs21,960; Atlantahealthcare.in). However, it has some neat features, including the auto-lock feature of the control panel, a thick Hepa filter and the nanoe technology—though the Universal 450 would still be a better bet for anyone with a sore throat since it has a humidifier as well.
