App radar: Cool new apps and games for iOS and Android
The latest smartphones offer a game on the popular ‘Kingsman’ movie, news apps with regional language content and a free photo app with cool stickers
Kingsman- The Golden Circle
Fans of the Kingsman series awaiting the second movie, set to release next week, can play the official mobile game Kingsman—The Golden Circle in the meanwhile. It is a third-person action game involving stunts and characters from Kingsman movies. The similarity to the original characters is remarkable. The gameplay is quite unique, though. You don’t get to control players’ actions directly. The actions are automated, but the outcome depends on a series of puzzles and how quickly you solve them.
My NBA 2K18
With the NBA 2k 18 expected to release on Sony PS4 and Microsoft Xbox One next week, fans can already start building their team, shop for in-game items, and earn virtual currency through the game’s official companion app. It basically provides users with a secondary interface where they can take care of other aspects of the game which can take up a lot of time. Users can take care of those on the app and spend time on the console to play matches.
Felt: Birthday Cards, Greeting Cards
Sending greeting cards to friends and family on birthday, anniversary, or thank you cards on social media or messenger is a very common practice these days. Felt allows users to create custom cards and use them on any social media platform they want. Published by Felt Cards, the app offers greetings cards with up to four frames in them. Users can add text or draw anything they want on the frames. Creating a card with four frames can cost up to $6.
Split Screen Creator
One of the highlights of Android Nougat is the split screen mode. Unfortunately, Android Nougat is running on just 13% of devices. The split screen creator can make up for it by allowing users to use two apps side by side on the same screen. However, it works a bit differently. You can’t swipe up to use it with any app. You will have to classify the apps you want to run side-by-side by adding the split screen widget on the homescreen first.
Zen: Personalised Stories
Zen is a news app, developed by Russian search engine Yandex for users in India. It has over 1,000 news sources and also supports four Indian languages such as Hindi, Bengali, Telugu and Tamil. This means you can access news from regional language sources too. Users can choose the language or source and their feeds will be populated with the content accordingly. The app also gives the option to like and dislike a story.
Ottipo Photo editor
Camera buffs looking for new apps to make their photos look more fun should try the new Ottipo photo app. It is totally free and offers a wide range of funky stickers, filters and photo frames. It supports multiple Indian languages and clubs them into various theme-based categories. Users can take a new picture or use an existing one from the photo gallery, add text, apply a filter or sicker they want and share them on any social media platform.
