- Kia Carnival has been launched in three variants
Kia Motors India on Wednesday launched premium multi-utility vehicle Carnival with a starting price tag of ₹24.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Kia Carnival has been launched in three variants - premium, prestige and the limousine model, which sits at the top of the range and comes for ₹33.95 lakh.
With the new Carnival models, Kia aims to tap the demand for premium MPVs across young entrepreneurs and corporate fleets, a segment that is currently dominated by Toyota's top-end Innova Crysta.
Kia Carnival range will be powered by a 2.2-liter BS6 diesel engine. The company received more than 1,400 bookings for the new car on the first day, which now totals up to 3500.
The company also unveiled its compact sports utility vehicle (SUV) Sonet, which is expected to be launched later this year. Kia Sonet will compete with the likes of sub-4 meter SUVs like Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport, among others.
Kia's participation in the compact SUV segment, a fast growing passenger vehicle category, only underlines its intent to ramp up its volumes and market share in the domestic car market.
Once commercially launched, Kia Sonet will come packed with a 10.25-inch infotainment and navigation system with UVO Connect, a Bose premium audio system, and an intelligent manual transmission (iMT), the company said in a statement.
The company also showcased Seltos X-Line Concept, a rigged variant of the popular midsize SUV at the Auto Expo 2020, which has fetched impressive numbers to the carmaker during the downturn.
