One of the most anticipated launches of 2020, Bajaj's Chetak electric scooter has been launched at ₹1 lakh(ex-showroom Pune and Bengaluru). Bajaj's first electric scooter will be available in two variants - the Urbane and the Premium. The bookings for the Bajaj electric scooter will be opened from tomorrow ( 15 January) at a token amount of ₹2,000. The booking process for the scooter is fully digital. The deliveries will start from the end of January.
The Bajaj Auto will deliver the first units in Pune and Bengaluru before it will be made available in other metropolitan cities like Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai. The Chetak will be sold via existing KTM outlets.
The Chetak's Urbane variant features drum brake at the front, while the Premium variant get a a front disc brake. The Bajaj Chetak e-scooter Premium has been priced at ₹1.15 lakh( ex-showroom, Pune and Bengaluru).
Bajaj is also offering a warranty of three years or 50,000 kms on the battery. The e-Chetak will offer a driving range of 95 km in Eco mode and 85 km in Sports mode. The battery setup is a 3.8 kW electric motor with a 16 Newton meter torque output. The battery can be fully charged in 5 hours or can be charged up to 25% in 1 hour. Bajaj has said claimed that its Intuitive Kick Down Mode will supply an additional surge of power in an emergency.
The Chetak Electric will also get a dedicated smartphone app to show range, charging and location. The installation of the Chetak will be carried out by a technician at the customer's house.
