Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, recently provided an update on the progress of the second-generation Tesla Roadster. In a Twitter Spaces session with Ford CEO Jim Farley, Musk restated the plans for the upcoming Tesla Roadster iteration, as reported by Autoevolution. He announced that the final design and engineering of the iconic electric vehicle would be concluded by the end of this year. Musk further revealed that the EV is anticipated to be prepared for volume production by late 2024.

According to the Tesla CEO, the company's current focus is not on the sportscar, but rather on other projects. He referred to the Tesla Roadster as an additional luxury feature, suggesting that it is not the primary focus at the moment. This indicataes that Tesla is dedicating its attention to refining the Cybertruck and developing its most affordable model, which is rumored to be named Model 2.

Despite Elon Musk's announcement that the second-generation Tesla Roadster is expected to be in production by the end of 2024, there is skepticism surrounding these timelines. Musk's track record of overpromising and underdelivering with Tesla vehicles raises doubts about the reliability of these estimates. While the news may be exciting, many remain cautious due to the company's history.

According to reports, Tesla has received a $50,000 deposit from numerous potential buyers who have reserved the second-generation Roadster. Interestingly, the automaker continues to accept bookings for the highly anticipated vehicle. However, Tesla's lack of communication regarding the Roadster has drawn significant criticism. Elon Musk recently addressed this issue, jokingly acknowledging that they are testing the patience of reservation holders. Nevertheless, he also provided some details about the Roadster's plans.

The unveiling of the new Roadster by Tesla took place in 2017, with an initial production target set for 2020. According to the electric vehicle manufacturer, the new Roadster boasts impressive performance capabilities, including an acceleration from 0 to 96 kmph in just 1.9 seconds and a top speed of 402 kmph. Tesla also claims a remarkable range of 1,000 km on a single charge, attributed to its utilization of a 200 kWh battery pack.
