SUVs continue to dominate the Indian car market, representing a significant portion of it. Currently, SUVs account for 46% of the overall Indian auto market. Notably, Hyundai India has experienced substantial growth in this segment, increasing its SUV market share from 34% in 2019 to an impressive 54% by 2023.

Hyundai claims that the Exter SUV will be equipped with first-in segment features like ESC (Electronic Stability Control), VSM (Vehicle Stability Management) and HAC (Hill Assist Control). Hyundai Exter will also boast of 3-Point Seat Belt & seatbelt reminder (all seats), Keyless Entry, ABS with EBD, Rear Parking Sensors, ESS, Burglar Alarm among others.
The SUV will boast of 40 advanced safety features including Headlamp Escort function, Auto Headlamps, ISOFIX, Rear Defogger and Rear Parking Camera. Additionally, Hyundai EXTER offers Segment First safety features such as Dashcam with dual camera, TPMS (Highline) and Burglar Alarm.
The auto maker has also revealed details about the SUV’s interior design. As teased, Hyundai Exter will be equipped with an 8-inch HD touchscreen and an advanced digital cluster with 4.2-inch colour TFT MID along with Hyundai Bluelink.
The infotainment unit will feature an in-built navigation and smartphone connectivity with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The digital cluster will host information related to drive statistics, TPMS (highline), Parking Distance, Door Open, Sunroof Open, 10 Regional + 2 Global languages as well as seatbelt reminder display for all seats. The SUV will offer more than 60 connected features.
Hyundai Exter SUV will be offered in 5 trim options – EX, S, SX, SX(O) and SX(O) Connect. It will be equipped with 3 powertrain options - 1.2 l Kappa Petrol engine (E20 Fuel Ready) available with 5-speed manual transmission (5MT) and Smart Auto AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) and 1.2 l Bi-fuel Kappa petrol with CNG engine equipped with 5-speed Manual transmission. The company claims that all powertrains are tuned to deliver consistent performance in diverse conditions and will ensure a delightful driving experience.
Hyundai India has officially announced the key features that will be included in the highly anticipated Hyundai Exter prior to its launch. The automaker has disclosed that the Exter SUV will be offered in a total of six single-tone color options and three dual-tone options, such as Cosmic Blue and Ranger Khaki.
Hyundai Motor plans to introduce the Exter SUV as an affordable model priced below 10 lakh rupees. The anticipated price range for the vehicle is expected to be between ₹6 lakh and ₹10 lakh (ex-showroom), enabling it to compete with popular rivals like the Punch and Fronx
vBookings for the Hyundai Exter SUV are now open and can be made either through Hyundai dealerships or the online portal. To reserve the Exter, customers are required to pay a booking amount of ₹11,000.
The Hyundai Creta has managed to maintain its popularity despite the new rivals. Hyundai is also determined to ensure its presence across all segments of the SUV market. To capture the smaller and affordable SUV segment, Hyundai plans to introduce a new SUV called the Exter.
