Hyundai Motor is gearing up to launch the Exter SUV, its smallest in the portfolio in the coming weeks. Ahead of the launch, the carmaker has been teasing several features of the SUV which will rival the likes of Tata Punch among others in the segment. In the latest teaser, Hyundai has revealed that the Exter SUV will come with a small electric sunroof. This feature is not available in some of its rivals, including the Punch SUV or Maruti Suzuki Fronx.
The upcoming Hyundai Exter SUV is set to make a groundbreaking move by being the first model in the small SUV segment to incorporate a dashcam as a safety feature. Equipped with a dual camera setup capturing footage from both the front and rear, the Exter's dashcam boasts a compact 2.31-inch LCD display. It offers various recording modes, such as Driving (normal), Event (safety), and Vacation (time lapse), and can be seamlessly connected to a smartphone. Additionally, the dashcam supports Full HD video recording and can even serve as a camera for capturing pictures or selfies.
Bookings for the Hyundai Exter SUV have commenced, with customers able to reserve their vehicle by paying a nominal amount of ₹11,000. The Exter SUV will be available in five different variants, namely EX, S, SX, SX(O), and SX(O) Connect.
Hyundai has confirmed that the Exter SUV will offer a comprehensive range of safety features. Across all variants, the SUV will come with 26 safety features, which will also be available as an option on the entry-level trims, EX and S. Moreover, the top-end trims of the Exter will exceed expectations by providing over 40 advanced safety features. These innovative offerings include Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Hill Assist Control (HAC), and a burglar alarm system, setting new standards in the segment.
Additionally, the Exter SUV will include essential safety features such as three-point seat belts, seatbelt reminders for all seats, ABS with EBD, keyless entry, rear parking sensors, and ESS (Emergency Stop Signal), among others.
The Hyundai Exter SUV will provide customers with three powertrain options to choose from. It will be available with a 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine, giving buyers the choice between a five-speed manual transmission or a Smart Auto AMT.
Moreover, there will be an option for a 1.2-litre Bi-fuel Kappa petrol engine. Hyundai will also introduce a CNG variant of the SUV, paired with a five-speed manual transmission. When it hits the market, the Exter SUV will compete against the Maruti Fronx, Nissan Magnite, and Tata Punch SUVs.
