Mahindra Thar SUV achieves one lakh sales mark: Details inside

PremiumMahindra Thar has crossed one lakh sales milestone in India. The SUV was launched in October 2020 and directly competes with Force Gurkha. Mahindra and Mahindra shared a video via its official YouTube channel, announcing the milestone. The video celebrates Mahindra Thar in its elements.
Currently, Mahindra Thar is offered in both manual as well as automatic transmissions with choice of petrol as well as diesel. The SUV can be purchased at a starting price of ₹10.54 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base model. The top-end variant, on the other hand costs ₹16.78 lakh (ex-showroom).

There are two configurations of Thar SUV - 4x4WD and RWD.
Mahindra Thar RWD comes in 3 variants: RWD Diesel MT variant, LX RWD Diesel MT trim variant and LX RWD Petrol AT variant.
The 1.5-litre engine Thar RWD diesel variants produce 117 PS of maximum power and 300 Nm of peak torque while also coming with a 6-speed manual transmission. On the other hand, the 2.0-litre turbocharged engine on the petrol variant produces 150 PS of maximum power and 320Nm of peak torque.
Meanwhile, Mahindra Thar SUV may get a new variant soon. According to a leaked RTO document, an entry-level Thar 4x4 variant – AX (AC) is under works. This model is aimed to take on the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Jimny that was showcased at Auto Expo 2023.
Mahindra Thar 4x4 AX (AC) variant is expected to get front-facing second-row seats. It is rumoured to be offered in both 2.0-litre turbo petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engine models.
Meanwhile, another Mahindra SUV - XUV700 also celebrated one lakh sales milestone. The three-row SUV competes with the likes of Tata Safari.
