Maruti Suzuki first showcased the Jimny SUV at Auto Expo motor show in January this year. The SUV is now rumoured to officially launch in the country next month. Ahead of the official debut, ARAI-certified mileage of the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Jimny has been revealed.
As we know, Maruti Suzuki Jimny will be powered by a 1.5-litre, naturally aspirated K15B petrol engine. The SUV will have an option of a five-speed manual and a four-speed automatic gearbox.
The upcoming car will offer a mileage of 16.94kmpl for the manual transmission model. For the automatic transmission (AT) version, the Jimny will have a claimed fuel efficiency of 16.39kmpl.
Comparing it with Maruti Suzuki Breeza, Jimny falls short of 3.2kmpl which delivers 20.15kmpl mileage for the manual transmission version and 19.8kmpl for AT model.
Bookings of the Maruti Suzuki Jimny SUV are underway. It has so far garnered over 25,000 bookings. Jimny SUV will be available in two trims – Zeta and Alpha.
The SUV will come with 9-inch touchscreen, SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system and Arkamys sound system. It will offer six airbags, ESP with hill-hold assist, hill-descent control, rear-view camera and ABS with EBD for safety
Maruti Suzuki Jimny is built on the 4 essentials of an off-road machine – Ladder Frame Chassis, Ample Body Angles, 3- link rigid axle suspension and ALLGRIP PRO (4WD) with low range transfer gear (4L mode).
Similar to the Fronx SUV (that was also showcased at Auto Expo 2023), the all-new Jimny comes with premium sound acoustic tuning through “Surround Sense" powered by “ARKAMYS". Safety features include 6-airbags, Brake (LSD) Limited Slip Differential, ESP with hill hold assist, hill decent control, rear-view camera, and ABS with EBD.
As far as the pricing is concerned, Maruti Suzuki Jimny is rumoured to be priced in ₹10-12 lakh (ex-showroom) range. The SUV is said to take on rivals that include Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha.
