Maruti Suzuki is set to officially launch the five-door Jimny SUV in India today. The SUV was first showcased at Auto Expo event in January this year. The auto manufacturer has already revealed features, design as well as colour variants of Maruti Suzuki Jimny. At today’s event, the company may finally announce the SUV’s price.
Maruti Suzuki Jimny will compete directly against the Mahindra Thar SUV. Maruti Suzuki has already opened bookings for the upcoming Jimny SUV. It has already registered about 30,000 pre bookings of the SUV.
As already confirmed by the company, Maruti Suzuki Jimny will be powered by a 1.5-litre, naturally aspirated K15B petrol engine. The SUV will have an option of a five-speed manual and a four-speed automatic gearbox.
Last month, the ARAI-certified mileage of the upcoming SUV was revealed. Maruti Suzuki Jimny will offer a mileage of 16.94kmpl for the manual transmission model. For the automatic transmission (AT) version, it will have a claimed fuel efficiency of 16.39kmpl.

Similar to the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, the all-new Jimny will come with premium sound acoustic tuning through “Surround Sense" powered by “ARKAMYS". The company says that Jimny is built on the 4 essentials of an off-road machine – Ladder Frame Chassis, Ample Body Angles, 3- link rigid axle suspension and ALLGRIP PRO (4WD) with low range transfer gear (4L mode).
Inside, the SUV will feature a 9-inch touchscreen and a SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system. For passenger safety, Jimny will offer six airbags, ESP with hill-hold assist, hill-descent control, rear-view camera and ABS with EBD.
As far as the pricing is concerned, it is rumoured that Maruti Suzuki Jimny may be priced in ₹10-12 lakh (ex-showroom) range. The SUV will rival the likes of Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha SUVs.
