Maruti Suzuki’s Thar rival five-door Jimny SUV launched: Details on price, features and more

Maruti Suzuki Jimny is now official in the country. First showcased at Auto Expo 2023, the auto manufacturer has finally announced the price of its five-door SUV. The base model of Maruti Suzuki Jimny is priced at ₹12.74 lakh (ex-showroom). Bookings for the SUV started in January this year. Deliveries will begin today.

Maruti Suzuki Jimny (5-door) will be available in Zeta and Alpha variants with Automatic and Manual transmission choices. The auto manufacturer says that the SUV takes forward NEXA’s design philosophy of ‘Crafted Futurism’, bolstering the three key pillars of NEXpression, NEXtech and NEXperience.

Maruti Suzuki Jimny: Performance

Maruti Suzuki Jimny is powered by 1.5L K-series engine with Idle Start Stop. It is capable of delivering maximum power of 77.1kW@6000rpm and max torque of 134.2Nm@4000rpm.

The SUV has a ground clearance (Unladen) of 210mm. It offers a fuel-efficiency of 16.94km/l for 5-speed MT and 16.39km/l for 4-speed AT.

Maruti Suzuki Jimny comes with ALLGRIP PRO (4WD) system and has a low range transfer gear (4L mode) to offer extreme off road ability. 

Maruti Suzuki Jimny: Safety

All variants of Maruti Suzuki Jimny come with the standard features of 6 airbags, anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), brake assist function, electronic stability program (ESP), brake limited slip differential, hill hold control, hill descent control, side-impact door beams and 3-point emergency locking. Retractor seatbelts, ISOFIX child seat anchorages, seatbelt, pretensioner, and rear view camera are other safety features available on the SUV. Additionally, Jimny is built on Suzuki’s own Total Effective Control Technology (TECT) platform to provide superior safety performance.

Maruti Suzuki Jimny: Colour variants

Maruti Suzuki Jimny is offered in seven color options, including five monotone shades andtwo dual-tone options. These are Pearl Arctic White, Bluish Black, Sizzling Red, Kinetic Yellow with Bluish Black roof, Sizzling Red with Bluish Black roof, Nexa Blue and Granite Grey.

Maruti Suzuki Jimny: Interior and exterior

Inside, the SUV features a 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment centre that offers wireless connectivity with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Jimny offers premium sound acoustic tuning through “Surround Sense” powered by “ARKAMYS”. The interior comes in basic black shade with silver inserts highlighting functional elements. The dashboard and centre console have been designed to maximise the driver’s awareness of the angle of the car.

Jimny offers a large boot space with a wide rear opening.

On the exterior side, the SUV has a body-on-frame design and squared body proportions. It boasts of a strong body frame built with its upright A-pillars and a flat clamshell bonnet. There are LED projector headlamps with washers on the front. Bumpers are optimized with angled edges to enhance wheel clearance for agile manoeuvring.

Maruti Suzuki Jimny: Accessories

The company is giving two accessory packages - Summit Seeker collection and Adventure Lifestyle collection with the Jimny SUV.

The Summit Seeker collection embodies the essence of exploration, and includes remarkable features such as front skid plates, fender garnish, illuminated door sill guards, interior styling kit, and more.

The Adventure Lifestyle collection is tailored to complement Jimny’s offbeat experiences and offers premium expedition tents and weather-resistant sleeping bags to portable chairs, multipurpose knife and umbrellas. The trademark RHINO logo associated with the Jimny symbolizes rugged strength and dynamic power, that perfectly complement the legendary legacy of the Jimny.
