McLaren Automotive has introduced the Artura in India, with a price tag of approximately 5.1 crore (ex-showroom). According to McLaren, the name 'Artura' represents the combination of art and the future. This vehicle marks McLaren's inaugural venture into series-production High-Performance Hybrid supercars.

The Artura's arrival in the Indian market was confirmed in November 2022, coinciding with the brand's announcement of its entry into India and the establishment of its first dealership in Mumbai. McLaren claims to have achieved a remarkable 25 percent market share within the segment in just one year, having successfully sold over 20 cars.

Being a hybrid vehicle, this supercar utilizes a brand-new 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine with twin-turbocharging, accompanied by hybrid assistance. Its total power output amounts to 671 bhp and 720 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission that transfers power exclusively to the rear wheels. The top speed of the car is electronically limited to 330 kmph, and it can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in a mere 3 seconds. Additionally, it takes 8.3 seconds to go from 0-200 kmph.

Like all McLarens, the Artura’s headlamp housing mimics the brand’s logo. The Artura also gets an additional lighting element under the headlamps. It has a quintessential mid-engine sportscar design with a gaping air intake right behind the doors. It has 19-inch alloy wheels at the front and 20-inch alloy wheels at the back.

The rear design of the Artura bears resemblance to the McLaren GT, characterized by slim tail-lamps. However, the Artura differentiates itself by positioning the exhaust tips above the number plate housing, while the McLaren and Artura logos are situated between the two exhaust tips.

Inside the Artura, occupants are greeted with a digital instrument cluster and an 8.0-inch vertically oriented touchscreen that operates the McLaren Infotainment System II. This system includes features such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The Artura also offers dual-zone climate control, two USB ports, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) technology.

This supercar offers four distinct driving modes: E-mode, Comfort, Sport, and Track. By default, the E-mode provides a silent start-up and operates solely on electric power. In Comfort mode, the V6 petrol engine collaborates with the electric motor, offering optimal assistance for fuel efficiency. Sport mode enhances performance by utilizing the electric motor to deliver torque at lower revs, while the engine works to maximize overall power. Lastly, Track mode maintains the hybrid powertrain's capabilities but features quicker shifts for an exhilarating driving experience.

Notably, the Artura stands as McLaren's pioneering model to utilize the newly developed McLaren Carbon Lightweight Architecture (MCLA), exclusively designed to accommodate future High-Performance Hybrid (HPH) engines. Equipped with a 7.4 kWh battery pack, this supercar boasts an electric motor that provides a range of 31 km on its own.
