After receiving an overwhelming response in the first phase, MG Motor India has now re-opened booking for its mid-size SUV MG Hector. Launched in India on June 27, MG Hector received 28,000 orders in the first round.

MG Motor India has also increased the price of the MG Hector by 2.5% depending on the variant. The new SUV is priced between 12.48 lakh (ex-showroom) and 17.28 lakh (ex-showroom). The carmaker said that the delivery time for a new Hector could stretch up to four months and more. Available in four colours, there are four variants of MG Hector — Style, Super, Smart and Sharp. Hector was earlier launched with prices ranging between 12.18 lakh to 16.88 lakh. The new prices are effective for bookings made on or after September 25, said the company. The customers who had booked MG Hector in the first phase will not have to pay the hiked price.

Due to the increasing demand, MG Motor India currently produces approximately 2,000 units of MG Hector per month. The company has steadily ramped-up production to 3,000 units of Hector at its Halol manufacturing facility in Gujarat.

According to the company, the top two variants of the Hector—Smart and Sharp—were in high demand, with over 50% reservations for the petrol variants. The Hector competes with Fiat Chrysler’s Jeep Compass, Mahindra’s XUV 500 and Tata Motors’ Harrier in India.

"We are extremely overwhelmed with the response that MG Hector has received. As part of our commitment to customer satisfaction, we plan to retain the very special introductory prices for our first customers who have expressed full confidence in the MG brand during its launch," Gaurav Gupta, Chief Commercial Officer at MG Motor India, said in a statement on Saturday.

Hector is being offered with MG Shield Protect plans which starts from 8,000 per month. MG Shield is a "555 service plan", which includes 5-years warranty for of unlimited kilometres, 5-years road side assistance for unlimited kilometres and 5 labour-free services.
