Royal Enfield is all geared up to launch its muscular beast, the Classic 650, a timeless silhouette of the popular Classic 350 on 27 March. With its broad stance, this motorcycle is a striking fusion of vintage charm and modern engineering. Retaining the classic appeal, it features a retro-inspired LED headlamp, a teardrop-shaped fuel tank, wire-spoked wheels, twin chrome-finished exhausts, and an extended rear fender. Its beefier frame and sculpted proportions lend it a muscular appeal, setting it apart as a bold addition to Royal Enfield’s lineup.
Unveiled back in 2024 and showcased at Motoverse 2024, the motorcycle will expand the brand’s 650cc lineup, which already includes the Shotgun 650, Interceptor 650, Continental GT 650, Super Meteor 650, and Interceptor Bear 650.
At the heart of the Classic 650 lies a 648cc parallel-twin engine, delivering 46.3 bhp and 52.3 Nm of peak torque. Mated to a six-speed gearbox, the engine is shared with its 650cc siblings, ensuring a well-rounded balance of power and efficiency. This tried-and-tested unit has already won over riders worldwide for its strong mid-range performance and refined characteristics.
As the flagship model within the Classic series, the Classic 650 Twin builds on the success of its smaller sibling, the Classic 350, which remains Royal Enfield’s top-selling motorcycle.
The 650cc platform has already proved its popularity in global markets such as Europe, the UK, and North America, and is now gaining significant traction in India.
The Classic 650 is engineered for comfort and control, featuring 43mm Showa front forks paired with twin rear shocks for a balanced ride across varying terrains. The inclusion of an analogue instrument cluster with a digital display, a Tripper navigation system, and adjustable levers brings a touch of modern convenience.
Safety has been prioritised, with disc brakes at both ends supported by dual-channel ABS for improved braking performance. Tipping the scales at 243kg (kerb weight), the Classic 650 is the heaviest motorcycle in Royal Enfield’s current lineup.
Colours and expected pricing in India
Royal Enfield will offer the Classic 650 in four striking shades: Red, Blue, Teal, and Black Chrome. Pricing is expected to be in line with the Super Meteor 650 and Shotgun 650, which retail at approximately ₹3.64 lakh and ₹3.59 lakh, respectively.
