Royal Enfield is reportedly developing several new motorcycles utilizing its 650cc platform, including the Shotgun 650, a faired Continental GT 650, and a 650cc Scrambler model based on the Interceptor 650. Recently, the company filed a trademark application for the name 'Interceptor Bear 650,' fueling speculation that this could be the moniker for one of their upcoming models.
According to a report by India Car news, it is likely that Royal Enfield will name their upcoming 650cc Scrambler model as the Royal Enfield Interceptor Bear 650. Spy shots of the motorcycle reveal that it shares a resemblance with the Interceptor INT 650, but features some fresh design elements that seem to be borrowed from the upcoming Himalayan 450. The observed test mule showcases retro design cues such as a circular headlamp, rearview mirrors, tail-light, and turn indicators.
The Royal Enfield Interceptor Bear 650 Scrambler is likely to beequipped with a fuel tank that has a teardrop shape and knee recesses, as seen in recently leaked spy images. The scrambler's LED headlight unit appears to be taken from the Super Meteor 650, further accentuating its retro design theme. Additionally, the test mule also features a small flyscreen and a headlight grille that might be available as an optional accessory. The motorcycle is expected to feature a single-pod instrument console.
Additionally, the upcoming Royal Enfield Scrambler is expected to be powered by a 648cc parallel-twin engine that utilizes air and oil cooling to generate 47bhp of power and 52Nm of torque. The motorcycle will feature a two-in-one exhaust system, and the suspension setup will consist of an inverted front fork and twin rear shock absorbers. It will have disc brakes on both wheels and come equipped with dual-channel ABS as a standard safety feature. The bike will be outfitted with wire-spoked wheels, which are expected to come wrapped with conventional tube-type tires.
