Royal Enfield is diligently developing a brand-new 450 cc platform that will serve as the foundation for multiple motorcycles. The highly anticipated first model to emerge from this platform will be the Himalayan 450, which is scheduled for unveiling later this year.

Recently, renowned supercross and rally-raid racer, CS Santosh, generated excitement among enthusiasts by sharing a video on social media, showcasing his dynamic and aggressive riding of the upcoming Himalayan 450.

Notably, the upcoming engine in Himalayan bike will mark a significant milestone for the brand as it will be their first-ever liquid-cooled motor. While the exact power outputs have not been disclosed yet, it is anticipated that they will fall within the range of 40-45 bhp and 40 Nm of peak torque. The engine will be optimized for low and mid-range performance, ensuring smooth touring without putting undue stress on the engine. Additionally, the increased low-end grunt will prove advantageous for off-roading activities.

To complement the new engine, Royal Enfield is equipping it with a 6-speed gearbox. These enhancements are expected to breathe new life into the Himalayan and address the concerns raised by enthusiasts.

In contrast, the current iteration of the Himalayan employs a long-stroke, oil-cooled 411 cc engine, generating approximately 25 bhp of power and 32 Nm of peak torque. This engine is coupled with a 5-speed gearbox.

Remaining faithful to the "function over form" philosophy, the design of the Himalayan 450 will prioritize practicality. It will feature an external cage that serves a dual purpose: safeguarding the motorcycle in the event of a fall and providing riders with the option to attach jerry cans for carrying extra fuel.

In addition, the Himalayan 450 will incorporate the LED Headlamp derived from the new 650 Twins and Super Meteor 650. It will also feature integrated brake lights within the turn indicators, a taller windscreen, and an expanded fuel tank. The confirmation has been made that the motorcycle will be equipped with tubeless spoked wheels. However, it is worth noting that a test mule involved in a recent crash was fitted with tube-type tires, indicating the potential existence of multiple variants being offered.

Anticipate a notable increase in the price of the upcoming Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 compared to the currently available 411 cc models, which are priced at 2.16 lakh (ex-showroom). The new generation Himalayan is expected to be priced around 2.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
