Royal Enfield is preparing to introduce the next-generation Himalayan motorcycle in India. The enhanced variant of the current adventure motorcycle is anticipated to be available for purchase in the second quarter of this year. Prior to its launch, which is expected to be the manufacturer's most significant release this year, the new Himalayan 450 motorcycle was observed undergoing tests on Indian roads. This also provided a glimpse into the sound of its exhaust note.
A video of one of the test mules of the upcoming Himalayan 450, from the new generation, was recently circulated on social media. The footage shows the motorcycle getting caught in traffic, and it also allows viewers to hear the exhaust note of the new bike, which seems to be slightly quieter compared to the current models.
The upcoming Himalayan 450 will feature a brand-new 450 cc liquid-cooled engine, expected to deliver a power output of 40-45 bhp and a peak torque of 40 Nm. This new engine is anticipated to offer greater power compared to competing models like the KTM 390 Adventure and the Yezdi Adventure motorcycle. For instance, the KTM rival generates approximately 44 bhp and 37 Nm of torque. The new generation Himalayan is also expected to come equipped with a six-speed gearbox. Currently, the Royal Enfield Himalayan is sold with a 411 cc engine, producing around 25 bhp of power and 32 Nm of peak torque.
In terms of design, the upcoming Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 motorcycle maintains some of its distinctive characteristics. Notable features will encompass an LED headlight, brake light turn indicators, an increased height windshield, split seats, and a redesigned fuel tank.
Furthermore, the suspension setup has undergone modifications. It has been officially confirmed that the Himalayan 450 will be equipped with tubeless spoked rims. Additionally, the motorcycle will retain the same rim sizes of 21 inches at the front and 17 inches at the rear, along with dual-purpose tires.
Anticipate a significant increase in the price of the upcoming Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 motorcycle compared to the currently available 411 models, which are priced at ₹2.06 lakh (ex-showroom). It is expected that the new generation motorcycle will have a price tag exceeding ₹2.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
