Tata Motors may soon bring a CNG variant of Tata Punch in the country. Spy images of the car under testing have appeared online. To recall, Tata Punch CNG was first showcased at Auto Expo in January earlier this year.

In the spy shots, the CNG-powered Tata Punch can be seen sporting a spare tyre mounted on the underside of the model, confirming that it is a CNG model. For those unaware, Tata Altroz CNG too has a spare tyre positioned below the boot.  Tata Punch CNG too may feature the same pattern.

At Auto Expo 2023, Tata Motors revealed that the CNG model will be equipped with twin cylinder engines with a total capacity of 60 litres. It will be available in 1.2 petrol engine and 1.5 diesel engine variants.

Other features coming with Tata Punch CNG model are electric sunroof,  automatic climate control, rear AC vents, a height-adjustable driver seat, and a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The car will feature six airbags and will also be equipped with projector headlamps. It will sit on 16-inch alloy wheels.

Tata Punch CNG will compete with the upcoming Hyundai Exter CNG. Recently, Hyundai has revealed the rear design of Exter SUV. In the teaser image, one can see a wide back panel connecting the taillights and a prominent skid plate towards the bottom.

Hyundai Exter will come in 5 trim options – EX, S, SX, SX(O) and SX(O) Connect. The SUV will be offered in three powertrain options - 1.2 l Kappa Petrol engine (E20 Fuel Ready) available with 5-speed manual transmission (5MT) and Smart Auto AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) and 1.2 l Bi-fuel Kappa petrol with CNG engine equipped with 5-speed Manual transmission. Hyundai says that all powertrains are tuned to deliver consistent performance in diverse conditions and will ensure a delightful driving experience.
