July holds exciting prospects for SUV enthusiasts in India, as three fresh models, including an electric SUV, are set to make their debut. This includes the next-generation version of the popular Kia Seltos, catering to the mass market, and Maruti Suzuki's entry into the premium MPV segment with the new Invicto, based on the Toyota Innova Hycross.
Whether you are a fan of bikes or cars, there's something for everyone. Triumph and Bajaj will introduce the recently unveiled Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X motorcycles, while Hero MotoCorp will unveil the Harley Davidson X440 motorcycle, which is the most affordable option in their lineup.
Kia is all set to launch the next-generation Seltos in India on July 4. Interested buyers can now book the new Seltos SUV by paying a pre-booking amount of ₹25,000. Kia dealerships have also confirmed that existing Seltos bookings will be converted to the facelifted version, considering the long waiting period.
The 2023 Kia Seltos facelift will boast various design modifications, including a revamped front grille, redesigned LED DRLs, and tweaked taillights. Inside the car, it is anticipated to feature a new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. In terms of engine options, Kia will offer three choices for the new Seltos. These include the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with manual and iMT gearbox options, the newly introduced 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine, and a 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine with both manual and automatic transmissions.
One of the notable updates in the new Seltos is the incorporation of ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) technology. This will bring advanced safety features like blindspot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), lane-keep assist, and more. The vehicle will also retain its existing safety features such as six airbags, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), VSM, Hill Assist, Brake Assist, ABS with EBD, and more.
On July 5, Maruti Suzuki is set to launch the Invicto, a premium 7-seater MPV based on the Toyota Innova HyCross. The car manufacturer has already commenced bookings for the vehicle at a price of ₹25,000. Positioned above the XL6, the Invicto will be offered in a single variant called Strong Hybrid Alpha+. It will be available in the exclusive color option of Nexa Blue.
Powering the Invicto MPV will be a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, the same as the one used in the Innova Hycross hybrid models. This engine is capable of producing 181 bhp of power and 188 Nm of peak torque. Additionally, an electric motor powered by a 168-cell Nickel Metal Hydride battery will generate 206 Nm of torque. The engine will be paired with an e-CVT automatic transmission.
On July 3, Harley-Davidson is set to launch its most affordable motorcycle, the X440, in India. This marks the result of the partnership between the American motorcycle manufacturer and Hero MotoCorp, announced in 2021. The Harley-Davidson X440 is the first product co-developed by these two giants specifically for the Indian market, with plans for export to various global markets as well.
Powering the X440 motorcycle will be a 440 cc single-cylinder engine with oil cooling, expected to deliver approximately 35 bhp and 30 Nm of torque. The bike will feature inverted forks at the front and twin shocks at the rear, ensuring a smooth ride. Braking performance will be provided by disc brakes at both ends, equipped with dual-channel ABS. The X440 will ride on 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in MRF Zapper Hyke tires.
Triumph Motorcycles recently introduced the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X motorcycles, which were unveiled earlier this week. These motorcycles are manufactured by Bajaj Auto at its Chakan facility near Pune, Maharashtra, and are intended for global distribution.
Pre-bookings for both models have already commenced through Triumph's online platform. The Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X will be equipped with a brand-new 398.15 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. This engine has the capability to produce 39.5 bhp of power and 37.5 Nm of peak torque. It will be coupled with a 6-speed gearbox that features a slip-and-assist clutch mechanism.
