As someone steps into a new venture, a growth mindset is essential. Many people approach life with a fixed mindset, which becomes their go-to excuse for challenges they hide from and risks they don’t take. However, no one is born with fixed intelligence or talents; people can grow their skills through learning.

Moch Akbar Azzihad M is a young serial entrepreneur, designer, and influencer who created his first business at just 17 years old with no capital. He is the founder and CEO of Converco and has also founded and co-founded several other startups that are doing well without investor involvement. Mainly known as Abay, he is also a crypto trader and influencer through CoinMarketCap.

In all facets of his entrepreneurial journey, Abay has learned to keep an open mind and look for opportunities to help his businesses thrive. Credited with the ability to turn any situation into a valuable lesson or opportunity, Abay explains that success depends on more than just talent. Success is the result of effort, growth, and hard work. Therefore, people who adopt a growth mindset are more likely to succeed than those who live by a fixed one.

While this all sounds like an easy switch to flip from one to the other, Abay explains that it is not as easy as it sounds. One needs to nurture a success mindset to improve their skills. They must first believe that their abilities, even the most basic ones, can be developed through effort and learning. Here is how to nurture a success mindset as shared by Abay:

Compete with yourself.

Even though it’s important to keep an eye on the competition, each person’s journey is theirs alone. They need to keep track of their own personal and professional goals. Abay adds it’s also essential that people find ways to make themselves better at harnessing their capabilities to defeat any challenges in their path. “Strengths and weaknesses are part of everyone’s existence," says Abay. “What matters is how you improve yourself each day."

Learning is a never-ending process.

No one can claim to know everything about everything. Abay shares that graduating from school doesn’t mean the end of learning; anyone can upskill themselves every day. And, thanks to digital transformation, they now have access to virtual learning. A growth mindset means that one is open to learning new ways of doing things. Learning will help one to understand their goals, limitations, and how to overcome roadblocks.

Failure is not fatal. Fail forward.

To cultivate a success mindset, it’s imperative to let go of the “I can’t" and turn it into “I can." Abay explains that when he faced challenges in 2017 that led to great losses, he didn’t stall his progress. Instead, he got back up, dusted himself off, and kept moving forward. “Failure doesn’t mean that you fall back and stay on the ground; you merely slip and should get right back on track," says Abay. “Do something today. Don't delay it, or you’ll be sorry!"
