Home / Brand Post / Traveling Helps Me Live, says Roberto Maggio

Traveling is one of the best ways to escape reality for a few days and just relax. However, the benefits of traveling go far beyond that. A person can gain a lot mentally, physically, and emotionally from packing their bags and visiting a new place.

Robert Maggio, a seasoned Italian entrepreneur with more than 40 years of experience, reveals that he finds it impossible to live without traveling. He developed some of the early Italian programs and websites and used his technical and managerial skills to build a millionaire web service. In addition to these accomplishments, Maggio also has several companies under his belt.

Maggio explains the story behind his motto “I travel, therefore I am" thusly: “It comes from my passion for travel, which, in turn, is linked to my other great passion, photography. The motto stems from an observation: if I don't travel for a long time, I start to feel bad. Traveling helps me to live, so I changed Descartes' 'Cogito ergo sum' to 'I travel, therefore I am.'"

In addition to helping him relax and learn about other cultures, Maggio says that travel has also positively impacted the way he does business. "I am fortunate that I have been able to enrich my knowledge with new experiences from my travels around the world. Traveling doesn't only help you relax, but it expands your horizons," says Roberto Maggio.

He also noticed that traveling helped improve his creativity, allowing him to develop more innovative solutions for the many problems he comes across as an entrepreneur. In addition, travel-inspired Maggio to start focusing more on his photography skills and grow even more as a professional photographer.

One of Maggio’s most recent creative ideas is the Other Places project at that serves as a unique collection of faces and situations from around the world. The characters immortalized by Maggio paint a choral portrait of human resistance and the ability to face difficult moments thanks to the vital and creative drive of individuals.

Maggio also shared the hashtag #otherplacesnet on his social media, which helped him connect with other users who sent Maggio their incredible photos. Now, Maggio’s plan is to unite all those photos and publish them in a book that will soon be released on Amazon. However, his photo collection is not final, and users can still share their photos by adding #otherplacesnet in the caption. Traveling used to be a luxury only a few could afford. Even though luxurious destinations are still quite pricey, Roberto Maggio believes that almost everyone nowadays has an opportunity to travel, even in small ways, for the sake of relaxation and personal growth.

"Having little time or money isn't an excuse not to travel. Nowadays, you can fly very cheaply and find affordable places to stay. Even if you have a full-time job and a family, you can still travel on the weekends or holidays, even with a baby. Don't let your excuses stop you. Treat your mind and body with a trip, no matter how short it may be."
