According to cryptocurrency market maker OrBit Markets, the amount of Bitcoin options traded on Deribit, recently increased by 82%, compared to December 2022. Other tokens that make up the biggest cryptocurrency list have also had a number of positives in the early moments of 2023. However, despite the intermmittent rises, consistency has been somewhat difficult to come by.
Bitcoin: Back For Real?
After dropping down to $22,000 over the last weekend, the price of Bitcoin has risen above $23,000. This followed remarks made by Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell at an economics symposium in Washington, D.C., where he claimed that inflation is decreasing.
Coin Metrics reports that Bitcoin increased 1% to $23,236.80, $1,667.63 of Ether increased by 1.3%. Following a weekend decline below that threshold, Bitcoin found it difficult to hold the $23,000 level on Monday.
Although the process of bringing inflation down has begun, Powell stated during a question-and-answer session at the Economic Club of Washington, D.C. that it "has a long way to go" and that these are "the very early phases."
