Bombay Shirt Company: Changing the Way Men Shop for Clothes in India
Tailor-made shirts, jeans, pants and t-shirts that fit you the way you want

When Founder & CEO, Akshay Narvekar started Bombay Shirt Company in 2012, he knew he wanted to give customers a hassle-free experience of customising their shirts. Traditionally, people buy the fabric in one place, the accessories in another and then go to their local tailor to get it stitched. Using proprietary technology, all these steps were combined into one easy process and Bombay Shirt Company, India's first online custom-made shirt brand with an emphasison quality products, expert craftsmanship and personalised service was born.
Bombay Shirt Company focused on building the right technology that would help customers get their shirts in the size and style they want online. Their unique sizing model, FitSmart allows customers to get their clothes custom-made by answering just five questions. 94% of their customers claim they like their fit the first time and for the ones who need alteration, Bombay Shirt Company offers doorstep pickup and delivery.

A year later, in 2014, Bombay Shirt Company launched their first store in Kala Ghoda, Mumbai where customers could interact with the in-store stylists that are on hand to help you select the fabrics and customisations. They have grown to 16 stores across the country in cities - Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune and Ahmedabad with more set to open in the coming months so you’re never too far from a BSC store.
“You come there with your wife, or your brother, or your son and you're designing shirts together. I think the genesis of our stores is, it is an experience center where people come to have a fun couple of hours and walk away with a whole bunch of stuff that they will hopefully like later when it gets delivered to them." says Akshay Narvekar, Founder & CEO.

Here’s what they offer, a wide range of customisations on their shirts, beginning from the type of collars, cuffs, buttons, placket and pocket. You can also choose sleeve length or choose to add fabric pipings and contrasts on your collar, cuff or placket. You can also choose to monogram your initials on the cuff to truly make the shirt your own.
Bombay Shirt Company has been selling custom-made shirts for 11 years and a lot of their customers asked them why they don’t have pants or jeans so customers could get a whole look tailor-made. So Bombay Shirt Company had to first bring in the right team to understand the other categories, fabrics, designing, getting the size and fit correct, and so on. They finally introduced new categories in late 2020 with jeans and now they’ve got chinos, dress pants, stretch pants and t-shirts.

“We’re really focused on our customers and we take each piece of feedback very seriously. We've got a pretty sizable customer experience team that makes sure that all consumer queries are addressed in real-time."says Akshay Narvekar, Founder & CEO.
Bombay Shirt Company is a conscious brand and all the clothes are made-to-order - that means they don’t make an item until you buy it so there are no huge volumes of excess garments sitting in warehouses waiting to be sold, and zero wastage. All their products are manufactured at their facility in Mumbai.
Clothes need to that fit you, rather than the other way around.
