If you're like most entrepreneurs, you are always looking for ways to optimize your time and get the most out of every day. Running a business can be incredibly stressful and pull you in a lot of directions. Founders are often expected to attend events, drive strategy, meet with clients, hire staff and do whatever it takes to spur growth.
For David Kasteler, a tech entrepreneur who has founded and sold 4 companies, time management has been a key factor in his success. Each of David's companies was bootstrapped, which taught him lessons about stress management, risk taking and most of all the balance required to maintain a stable home life when his work life was so demanding.
David's entrepreneurial journey started at 12 when he started his first business and he has never lost the passion for founding and growing new ventures. He has launched a commodity and algorithmic hedge fund, an international health and wellness company, a large outsourcing firm, and started a social for-profit humanitarian venture which became the largest book donation source for Books for Africa, setting up libraries in Africa, USA and Latin America. Currently, David is the COO of Element United, leading a blockchain revolution in digital gold and precious elements.
So how has he balanced it all? David believes in setting up what he calls a "Structure for Success''. The key elements in this structure are: finding balance in your life while managing a demanding schedule, staying healthy and strong, and most importantly taking daily actions for long term fulfillment.
Finding balance in your home life when your work life is stressful is easier said than done. However, David knows first hand that making sure to take the time to maintain great home relationships is key to building a strong personal foundation. This will ensure you have a support system to help you through the inevitable challenges you'll face as an entrepreneur.
In addition to maintaining balance, staying healthy and strong is crucial for entrepreneurs. Oftentimes we sacrifice our health in order to put all of our energy into our business. However, this is not sustainable in the long run. David makes nutrition and yoga a key part of his routine to keep his energy levels up and his mind clear.
Last but not least, taking daily actions for long term fulfillment is essential to keeping your business on track. This means setting goals and then taking small steps each day to move closer towards those goals. For David, this also means meditating daily and taking time for personal development.
Building these strong foundations in your life will give you the strength and energy to pursue your business goals without sacrificing your physical and mental health.
With these foundations built into his life David is excited to pursue his true passion, helping individuals reach their highest potential in business and life. He plans to pursue this by writing books and continuing to lecture on college campuses worldwide.
