IMI or International Maritime Institute hosted the inauguration ceremony for Full Mission and Desktop Based Engine Room Simulator for ME Engine, RT Flex, and LNG Bunkering. The event took place beside the integral “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav" celebrations. The main objective of launching the simulator was to aid MEO Class 1, MEO Class 2, MEO Class 4, and marine engineering cadets to enhance their competencies and professionals through the use of simulation technologies.


Some of India’s most recognized marine personalities attended the inauguration ceremony. While, the CEO and Group Managing Director of MSC Shipmanagement Limited, Cyprus, Shri Prabhat Jha was invited as a Guest Of Honour. IMI also invited Shri Amitabh Kumar, Director Of General Shipping, IRS, as the Chief Guest at the inauguration event.


Many acclaimed fraternity members of the Indian shipping industry such as Managing Director of MSC, Captain Mahendra Pal Singh; General Manager of Executive Shipping, Captain Indresh Kharbanda; Senior Superintendents, Captain Rajendra Poswal of SIC MM, Noida; and Deputy General Manager of MMSI, Captain Virendra Yadav graced the inauguration ceremony along with some other reputed personalities in high spirits.


Guest of Honor, Shri Prabhat Jha, and Captain Bhasin were impressed by the hostel construction process, CMCC course, GP rating administrative block, Advanced Fire Fighting, and PSCRB underway completion. They were taken to the newly framed IMI Campus in Sonpeda which is around 25kms away from the location of the main IMI campus.


The inauguration event was flagged off as soon as the Guest of Honor, Shri Prabhat Jha arrived at the occasion. All the other members present at the spectacle, especially the Head Of The Institution, Captain Saurabh Varshney gave him a warm welcome. Following the flagging off ceremony, Shri Prabhat Jha addressed MSC’s Deck and Engine Cadets, went ahead to take a tour of the institution, analyzed IMI’s infrastructure, and spoke positively about the present working machinery models constructed by cadets for numerous onboard ships.


On the much-anticipated arrival of the Chief Guest, Shri Amitabh Kumar, on the occasion, the audience elatedly greeted him by giving him a standing ovation. Followed by, a march past, and a salute by all the four platoons, and IMI cadet's guards of honor.


During Captain Varshney’s welcome address, he mentioned that the Full Mission Engine Room Simulator is basically a desktop-based machinery model. The machinery model is equipped with all the latest components like ME Electronic Engine, RT Flex Electronic Engine, MEGI Electronic Engine along with LNG Bunkering. A few other features of the model are Ballast Water and Exhaust Gas Scrubber.


The Guest Of Honour expressed his immense pleasure and delight in visiting the IMI campus and meeting all the cadets. He felt thrilled to learn all about the institution’s overall progress. He wished IMI the very best for all their future endeavors and left everyone cheering.


Chairman of IMI, Captain Ashok Kohli, presented, both the Guest Of Honour and the Chief Guest with a memento. They all then made their way to the Engine Simulator Room for the ribbon-cutting ceremony and lighting of the lamp. Followed by, high-tea being served to all the attendees of the event.
