Leading OTT player ZEE5 is partnering with ISPs and cable operators to offer bundle solutions to TV buffs.
The pandemic has led to unprecedented changes in the way content is being consumed. Consumers are looking at entertainment beyond the traditional DTH and Cable TV. Cable operators have witnessed a drop of 15 per cent in subscriptions as well as revenues. The market is becoming hyper competitive and the operators are looking for other sources of revenue to stay afloat in this price war. While cable operators are struggling, Over the Top (OTT) platforms are reporting a dramatic spike in Internet consumption since March this year.
ZEE5 has seen 3X growth in its consumer base over the last few months with consumers spending 33% more time on the platform. To enable easy access to OTT entertainment content, ZEE5 has been working very closely with the Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and cable operators.
In a bid to narrow down the gap between viewers, Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and cable operators, ZEE5 is offering a bundled product to the consumer. This offer has both options –traditional channels as well as the new OTT content – all rolled into one.
For customers, this is a win-win situation. They can access all the content without the hassle of managing multiple subscriptions. So, you can watch the latest ZEE5 Originals like Taish, Abhay and Forbidden Love as well as your favourite daily soaps and news channel debates on the small screen. Customers also get to access ALT Balaji Premium content with the ZEE5 subscription.
The demand for a bundled solution has found favour with consumers. According to a recent Ovum survey, about 30 per cent respondents said they would prefer to switch to other service providers if they get better OTT bundles. These could come in the form of a smart set top box or a streaming device or even a content mobile application.
For cable operators and ISPs, this offer by ZEE5 comes as an opportunity to ride on the OTT wave and stay afloat in these troubled times. ZEE5 has already partnered with 20+ ISP partners across the breadth of country with special focus on Tier II cities.
ISPs can sell a bundled or listed product and they can do activation via API integration or simple web based interface provided by ZEE5. ISPs can choose a prepaid coupon code, deposit based, affiliate or distributor based commission model and all these options can be customised to suit the product that the ISP or cable operator plans to launch.
ZEE5 will also help the partner generate demand and increase brand visibility by helping them with marketing creatives, social media celeb byte promotions, product proposition like free trial, etc.
ZEE5 offers over 2 lakh hours of On-Demand content across Original shows, Bollywood and Hollywood movies, music, kids and health and lifestyle shows. It also has more than 100 live TV channels. The online platform offers content and app user experience across 12 languages including English, Hindi, Bengali, Malayalam, Tamil, Telegu, Kannada, Marathi, Oriya, Bhojpuri, Gujarati and Punjabi.
