With massive footfalls, amounting to over 25,000, from budding entrepreneurs across the city, Gujarat, as well as the country, the Vadodara Start-up Festival 3.0 saw over 10,500 beneficiaries, who were in the august presence of noted personalities from various major business houses

India, 6th January 2023: The Vadodara-based premier educational center focussed on industry and entrepreneurship-oriented institute, Parul University, recently hosted the third edition of the Vadodara Start-up Festival (VSF). With massive footfalls, amounting to over 25,000, from budding entrepreneurs across the city, Gujarat, as well as the country, the Vadodara Start-up Festival 3.0 saw over 10,500 beneficiaries, who were in the august presence of noted personalities from various major business houses as well as the government. The eminent figures who graced the event also shared their business insights, entrepreneurial journeys and nuggets of wisdom.

The 3-day-long startup carnival at Parul University brought together a powerhouse of business thinkers who have not only built and contributed majorly to the Indian commerce landscape but also are keen to mentor, guide, and invest in the new generation of entrepreneurs. The event aimed to foster an enterprising spirit among the Parul University cohort and bring to the fore the best ideas incubating in the institute.

The 70 guest speakers of eminence were Shri. Bipin Hadvani, the Founder and Director of Gopal Namkeen; Shri. D R Parmar, Joint Commissioner of Industries & Startup Gujarat Cell; Shri Premraj Keshyep, MD, KYB Conmet India; Mr. Hiranmay Mahanta, CEO, IHub Gujarat, Government of Gujarat; Mr. Dishit Nathwani, Director, Gulab Oil & Foods; Mr. Kamal Bansal, Managing Director, Gujarat Venture Finance Limited; and many others. Additionally, the renowned BharatPe Founder and judge at the popular reality television show Shark Tank, Mr Ashneer Grover, was on the list of prominent guests.

Speaking about the success of the startup carnival, Dr Devanshu Patel, President of Parul University, said, “The active participation of many young entrepreneurs and innovators from higher education, primary and secondary education, is evidence of the impact generated by Vadodara Startup Festival towards entrepreneurship. This is the state’s largest startup conclave; and in its third year of collaboration I believe we will continue to see the mark it has on India’s trajectory in preparing the future business leaders."

Further, outlining the vision behind hosting the Vadodara Startup Festival, an elated Mr Jay Sudani, the CEO of the University’s Entrepreneurship Development Centre, said, “Our efforts as an Institution are dedicated towards expressing our support for the Startup India movement. I believe it can only be achieved as a collective effort- that means through the contribution of every stakeholder within the entrepreneurship ecosystem, from incubators to investors and through Vadodara Startup Festival, I am glad that we are able to create such a platform, where startups do meet to compete but rather meet to complement each other, and this year was a great success, seeing over 9,000 participants, and 75 guest speakers and 100% of them being entrepreneurs."

With Paul University’s initiative, the VSF 3.0 held 12 business-focused programs. The key features of the festival included the Startup Expo, an exhibition of prominent startups from different sectors, and the Startup Masterclass, where top entrepreneurs shared their journeys and ideas. Additionally, the segment Shark Tank House brought on the same platform for the tycoon from the television show, Shark Tank; and idea Pitching aimed to provide budding businesspersons with a platform to pitch their business and to create an engaging ecosystem for exchange of ideas. Further, there were programs such as Mentor Garage, Startup Info Street, Startup Intern Carnival, and Founders’ Talk.

A highlight of the event was when 30 investors were ready to invest and be part of the startup journey of Parul University students as well as other young entrepreneurs. Over the three days, young businesspersons bagged more than 27 crore worth of investment and opportunities to intern in over 550 well-known startups. Along with the investment opportunity, young leaders, especially from the 200+ startups across multiple sectors, were mentored and groomed by industry experts. The sessions comprised one-on-one and collective mentorship, with discussions ranging from investment and marketing options to business model enhancement.

In accordance with Parul University’s vision of spreading powerful ideas across the country beyond the confines of its university space, a unique feature of the festival, Tiny Tycoons, focused on instilling and encouraging the entrepreneurial spirit in school students. One of the flagship events at VSF 3.0, Tiny Tycoons, featured Anand Vidya Vihar and New Era Senior Secondary School from Gujarat to foster creativity and idea in children. Furthermore, with the growing influence of the renowned entrepreneurship TV show Shark Tank, the University went on to add an innovative element featuring 8 of the key personalities, who appeared and received funding support through the platform. The Shark Tank House allowed the aspiring entrepreneurs and startup founders to learn the fundamentals of investments and incubation through the journeys of such key personalities.

Further, apart from its academic efforts in various cutting-edge disciplines, Parul University’s commitment to entrepreneurship helps the youth of Gujarat realise their business goals through its Vadodara Startup Studio.
