Roman Sledziejowski is currently the Vice Chairman of an international management consulting firm, Savant Strategies.

Born in Poland, Sledziejowski started his professional career in New York City at Salomon Smith Barney, Member of Travelers Group at the tender young age of 17, working for the investment bank part time throughout his final year of high school, where he learned the ins and outs of banking and finance from the more senior and experienced members of the firm.

While in high school, the athletic young man was the captain of his school’s varsity soccer team, playing as striker, and won the most valuable player (MVP) honor 3 years in a row.  Roman also represented his school’s varsity track and field team at various track meets throughout the State of New York

Roman graduated from high school as the class valedictorian, and began his studies at Columbia University in the field of Economics.

At the age of 18 Roman became the youngest National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) licensed stock broker in the U.S., and was recognized by the Wall Street Journal for his success managing his clients’ money. He began working full time as an Investment Associate at Smith Barney, Member of Citigroup.  His book of business grew quickly at Citigroup and Roman was managing over $40 million before he was old enough to buy a legal drink at a bar.

In 2002 Roman Sledziejowski became the Vice President of Investments at Prudential Securities in New York City. In 2004 he was promoted to the position of First Vice President of Investments. At the age of 25 Roman Sledziejowski became the Senior Vice President and Investment Officer of Wachovia Securities.

While at Wachovia Securities, Roman Sledziejowski began to explore the exciting world of real estate investing and started investing in multi-family rental properties in New York, Tennessee, and Arkansas. Through various partnerships Roman Sledziejowski purchased and re-developed nearly 400 residential units between 2004 and 2009.

Roman Sledziejowski started a New York City-based financial holding company, called Innovest Holdings, in 2006.  Innovest operated through four primary subsidiaries: TWS Financial, LLC, a full-service broker dealer based in Washington, DC with over $500 million in annual market transactions, servicing primarily foreign high net worth individual clients and international financial institutions; TradeWallStreet.com, a fast-growing online Broker/Dealer platform catering to individual investors; TWS Investment Partners, LLC, a real estate investment and finance company with over $100 million in real estate projects; and TWS Capital Partners, LLC, an offshore investment advisor with assets under management exceeding $1 billion.

In 2007 Roman Sledziejowski co-founded MyPlace Development, Sp. Z o.o., a Poznan, Poland based real estate development company, together with Sebastian Kulczyk who served as the company’s CEO with Roman Sledziejowski and serving as MyPlace Development’s Chairman until early 2010. In December of 2009 RJS finalized the sale of his interest in MyPlace Development for $7.3 million in cash to Kulczyk Real Estate Holding SARL in Luxemburg.

After early success, TWS Financial, LLC experienced serious financial losses during the financial crisis of 2008.  Between mid-2007 and 2008, the US housing downturn sparked a global financial crisis that spread from the US to many of the world’s most powerful economies. Banks and financial institutions around the globe suffered large losses and were dependent on government support to prevent bankruptcy. Millions of people lost their jobs, and Sledziejowski’s financial interests suffered as a result of the economic crisis.

In 2013, Roman Sledziejowski co-founded Savant Strategies, an international management consulting firm. Due to personal and legal issues, he took an extended leave of absence from the firm in 2016.

In 2021 Roman Sledziejowski returned to Savant Strategies, the firm he co-founded back in 2013, as Vice Chairman. Savant Strategies provides management consulting services to middle market companies primarily in Latin America, Europe, and South Africa.

When was the last time you changed your mind about something important?

It is not often that I change my mind about something important, however, I must say that I am quite open minded at all times and the right set of facts and a logical argument can convince me to alter my thinking just about anything. Quite recently I was convinced to materially change the course of action on a proposed strategy for a key client of ours. After devoting months to thorough analysis and coming up with a concrete plan to resolve the issues faced by the client, I was convinced by my team that there is an alternative approach which may achieve similar end result with significantly less risk of negatively impacting ongoing operations.

How do you stay motivated at work?

I can only stay motivated at work when there is a constant stream of new projects, ideas, challenges. Without it, I become quite unenthused rather quickly. In order to keep my motivation at a high level, I make it a point in my daily routine to always devote time and focus to new things. This motivates me to keep going with the mundane parts of the daily tasks since my mind already subconsciously begins to focus on new and exciting projects in the pipeline.

How has your international background influenced your career?

My international background has been the very key to my success in various fields during my professional career. My ability to utilize my extensive exposure to various regions, cultures, languages has been extremely valuable on many levels. In today’s day and age there are hardly any industries and corresponding companies which do not operate on a global scale. Having lived and worked in many different countries provides me with a rather unique understanding of many underlying trends and nuances specific to various regions of the world.
