As workplaces around the world turn virtual, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Co-Founder of Wurkr, Annil Chandel, is developing technology products that enable remote working and distributed team management for online office environments.
He is young. He is enigmatic. And, he sure has a vision. At a time when workplaces around the world are increasingly becoming ‘borderless’, Annil Chandel is a busy man creating unique solutions to power the future of work.
Chandel is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Co-Founder of Wurkr, a comprehensive virtual workplace management program powered by SaaS. He champions what are being termed as the buzzwords of today – remote working, distributed team management and video technology for office environments. As the world stays home to fight the Covid-19 pandemic, and living rooms transform into office spaces, each of these have become core elements of the remote work set-up.
“I love thinking out of the box and create unique solutions and I am driven by information, integrity, ethics and values," he says.
Wurkr uses video platforms to replicate the physical office space online, which allows you to communicate and collaborate with your colleagues in real time and over video, which feels like it is face to face communication.
It brings together the best of both worlds – working from anywhere and being physically present with your colleagues – which is exactly what the workplace of the future is being perceived to look like. Wurkr’s immersive experience empowers people to feel like a value part of a team which can connect with one another from any geography they happen to be located in at the time.
So, can you have a chat with a co-worker while making coffee or grabbing a quick bite? Or have a ‘water cooler time’, when people laugh together, get a recharge before immersing themselves in the day’s targets?
Wurkr’s digital workplace offers an inclusive and diverse virtual work environment that targets sustainable development, which is the need of the hour. It keeps people online in virtual office rooms in the background, where they can drop by to ask a question or share a coffee. There is even an option for a slack channel where people can post a catch up over drinks and other team mates can join in over the video call. These asides have oft been proven to be fundamental in forging deeper relationships in high performing teams.
Since it was launched in 2018, Wurkr has created a presence for itself in markets in India and the United Kingdom. Today, it has 216,000 subscribers and 3190 organisations
opting to use it, including big names like Hello Monday, Swansea University, HiveMind, One Tree Planted and Hastee, to name a few. In the past year alone Wurkr’s subscriber base has witnessed an increase of 1,000 per cent.
“I am proud of the people that I work with and help them realise their work-like integration goals; creating wealth and earn great money spending time with family, living in a location of choice, pursue a hobby or simply avoid the commute to the office to become digital nomads," he further adds.
In addition to managing Wurkr’s operations full time, Chandel is also the Co-founder of KnownFour, a disruptive “working together from anywhere" recruitment company. Every day, he makes a difference in the way experienced recruiters and salespeople work in new-age offices using remote working and technology.
KnownFour brings together the skills, knowledge and networks of the best experienced recruiters in the industry by giving them the tools, freedom and autonomy to recruit exceptionally well.
Over the last two decades, he has started several companies of his own and created multi-pound businesses for companies as he shuttled between three continents. He completed a B Sc degree in Computer Science from University of Westminster and is now settled in London.
