Amul increased the milk prices by ₹1 per half litre and ₹2 per litre in all segments of its packed milk category on 2 June, and the new price will be effective from 3 June, reported news agency ANI.
With this hike, Amul Gold and Amul Taaza's prices will be ₹2 more per litre, Amul Buffalo Milk by ₹3 per litre and the rest by ₹1 per litre.

"The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), marketer of milk and milk products under the brand name Amul, has increased the prices of fresh pouch milk by approx. ₹2 per litre effective from 3rd June'2024 in all the markets across the country." ANI quoted GCMMFL statement.
"The increase of ₹2 per litre translates to range of 3-4% increase on MRP which is much lower than average of food inflation. It is worthwhile to note that since Feb'2023, Amul has made no increase if prices of Fresh Pouch milk in major markets," it added.
According to the report, the price hike has been done to cope up with the overall cost of operation and production of milk.
Citing the reason for the hike, Amul said, "This price hike is being done due to increase in overall cost of operation and production of milk. Our member unions have also increased framer's price approximately by 6-8% over the last one year."
With the latest hike, the Amul Gold half-litre pouch will now be available at an MRP (Maximum Retail Price) of ₹34 against ₹33, while the one-litre pouch will be sold at an MRP of ₹68 against ₹66.
Similarly, Amul Cow Milk's half-litre pouch will be sold at an MRP of ₹29 instead of ₹28, while its one-litre pouch will be sold at an MRP of ₹57 instead of ₹56.
Not only this. Amul Taaza's half-litre pouch would cost ₹28 now vs ₹27 earlier, and its one-litre pack would cost ₹56 as MRP against the current ₹54.
For Amul Slim n Trim, customers must shed ₹1 extra on MRP for half-litre and one-litre pouches. Now, a half-litre pouch will cost ₹25, while for a one-litre pouch, customers will have to pay ₹49.
In the Amul Buffalo Milk segment, then firm raised ₹2 per half litre on MRP and now it will be sold at ₹37. For one litre, the price has been hiked by ₹3, and now the MRP stands at ₹73. No changes have been made in the Sagar Skimmed Milk category, and they will be sold at present MRP rates of ₹20 per half litre and ₹40 a litre.
