Amazon India launches bus ticket bookings in tie-up with redBus

Amazon.in customers can book the tickets via the Bus Tickets category under the Amazon Pay tab

    BENGALURU : Amazon India has launched a private bus ticket booking service, in partnership with online bus ticket booking platform redBus.

    Through this tie-up, Amazon customers will get access to redBus features such as bus service ratings by passengers and live tracking of buses and also get the bus number and contact information of staff prior to departure, Amazon India said in a statement.

    RedBus is now part of online travel aggregator MakeMyTrip group.

    Amazon.in customers can book the tickets via the Bus Tickets category under the Amazon Pay tab. In case customers have to cancel a ticket, they only pay the cancellation penalty as per policy defined by the operator and Amazon.in does not levy any additional charges, the statement said.

    Vikas Bansal, director, Amazon Pay said, "Over the course of time, Amazon app has become the one-stop destination for the shopping and payment needs of our customers...Today, we are pleased to announce the booking of bus tickets on Amazon. We are excited to partner with redBus and move another step forward in making life easy for our customers."

    On Tuesday, Times of India reported that Amazon India will add bus, train, hotel bookings and is building a super app-like play through its payments platform Amazon Pay.

    Manoj Agarwala, senior vice-president, redBus, said, "We are excited to partner with Amazon to bring bus ticketing to its large customer base to further widen and deepen the penetration of online bus ticketing in our country. With this partnership, we are offering yet another avenue to our bus operator partners to distribute their inventory and help grow their sales and occupancy."
