EY Chairman Rajiv Memani appointed as CII President for 2025-26, replaces ITC MD Sanjiv Puri

Rajiv Memani is the new President of CII for 2025-26, taking over from Sanjiv Puri. He has held various leadership roles in EY and government initiatives. R Mukundan and Suchitra K Ella have been designated as CII President-Designate and Vice President for the same term.

Rajiv Memani, Chairman and CEO of EY India, has been elected as the President of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for 2025-26 by the newly constituted national council of the body, reported PTI.

Memani will replace Sanjiv Puri, Chairman and Managing Director of ITC Ltd. He serves on the EY Global Executive Board and chairs the Growth Markets Council.

His responsibilities in the Emerging Markets role include advancing EY's emerging markets growth agenda and aligning their priorities with the global standards.

Before assuming the role of the Chairman and CEO, Memani established EY India's market-leading Corporate Finance, now known as Strategy and Transactions.

He was the President-Designate of the Confederation of Indian Industries for 2024-25 and Vice President for 2023-24.

Memani has been a part of central government committees, including the Ministry of Finance taskforce that drafted a new Direct Tax Code in 2019.

Additionally, he is the President of the Board of Him Jyoti School, an institution that aims to provide education to underprivileged girls in Uttarakhand. Memani also serves as a board member of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Sirmaur and a member of the governing council of KREA University.

In terms of education, Memani is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University.

Other appointments 

R Mukundan, Managing Director and CEO of Tata Chemicals Limited, has been appointed as CII's President-Designate for 2025-26. He began his career with the Tata Administrative Service in 1990 after earning his MBA from FMS, Delhi University. Mukundan is a notable alumnus of IIT, Roorkee, a Fellow of the Indian Chemical Society, and has also attended Harvard Business School.

Throughout his 33-year career at Tata Group, he has taken on multiple roles within the chemical, automotive, and hospitality sectors. He is also involved with industry forums and impact organisations.

Suchitra K Ella, the Co-founder and Managing Director of Bharat Biotech International Limited, has been appointed CII Vice President for 2025-26. She played a key role in establishing Bharat Biotech in 1996. Ella received the Padma Bhushan in 2022 for her contributions to society and industry. She has also received the SAARC women award, Colombo, Business Achievers Award, SIMA, Singapore, among others.
