New Delhi: Former Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Scott Gottlieb will join the board of directors of Pfizer, the company has announced.
Gottlieb had stepped down in April after running the FDA for two years and is currently a resident at the American Enterprise Institute, a Washington DC think tank.
“I’m honored to be joining the board of directors of #Pfizer and working together with more than 90,000 Pfizer colleagues to promote medical innovation, advance patient care, and secure access to better healthcare outcomes for families around the world," he Gottlieb tweeted early on Friday.
During his tenure, Gottlieb, a medical doctor advanced a number of prescription drug policies, sped up the drug approval process and facilitated reduction in drug prices under the Trump administration. He also was supportive of newer technologies, such as cell and gene therapy.
