Maruti Suzuki India Ltd – country’s largest vehicle manufacturer – on Monday announced increase in the prices of its products, in the range of 0% to 4.7%, due to hike in input cost. The revised prices will be implemented from January 27.
The company though did not specify the product wise increase in prices.
“Maruti Suzuki India Limited today announced a price change for select models owing to increase in input costs. The price change varies across models and ranges from 0% to 4.7% (Ex-Showroom - Delhi). The new prices are effective from January 27, 2020," the company said in a press release.
Most manufacturers are still upgrading their products in the portfolio to the Bharat Stage 6 emission norm, to be implemented from April 1,2020, and the announcement related to price increase can be attributed to the compliance with the new emission norms. Recently, the company announced the introduction of the BS 6 norm compliant variant of its mid size sedan Ciaz.
The New Delhi based vehicle manufacturer, on December 3, 2019, announced that it will increase prices of its products from January but didn’t specify the quantum of increase in price.
Automakers usually make price increase announcements to attract customers and reduce stocks at dealerships at the end of the calendar year.
