Star Health and Allied Insurance Company Ltd announced on Monday, October 28, that the company cleared its Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), Amarjeet Khanuja, of any alleged wrongdoing after conducting an independent forensic investigation, finding no links between the threat actors and the executive over the data leak incident, according to the company's BSE filing.
The company disclosed that the forensic investigation into allegations of communication between the hacker and the Chief Information Security Officer has now been concluded. The investigation found no link between the hacker and the security officer, according to the statement.
“The forensic investigation has been completed and it concluded that that the alleged communication between the Threat Actor and the CISO was fabricated by the Threat Actor; and there were no links between the CISO and the Incident, and no evidence of any wrongdoing was found,” said the company in its exchange filing on Monday.
Star Health and Allied Insurance Company Ltd shares closed 0.44 per cent higher at ₹543.05 after Monday's trading session, compared to ₹540.65 at the previous market close.
According to the minutes from the risk management meeting conducted by the company on October 28, the committee discussed the incident in detail and also suggested some additional measures to enhance the firm's information security posture and standards, as per the exchange filing.
According to the company, customer data leaked on Telegram's social media messaging application through the hackers and bots has now been removed.
Mint reported earlier that Star Health Insurance, on October 9, said that the firm had been a victim of a targeted malicious cyberattack that resulted in unauthorized and illegal access to certain data, as per the official statement.
“We acknowledge that we were the victim of a targeted malicious cyberattack, resulting in unauthorized and illegal access to certain data. We make it absolutely clear that our operations remain unaffected, and all services continue without disruption,” said the company.
The company also disclosed back then that an investigation led by independent forensic cybersecurity experts was initiated, in the exchange filing. This was the same investigation which concluded on Monday, October 28 removing allegation from its Chief Information Security Officer of any wrongdoing.
