Business News/ Companies / News/  Vistara reels under supply-chain issues, airline's cabin crew left without uniforms
Back

Tata Sons-backed airliner Vistara does not have enough uniforms for its cabin crew. The carrier is facing an unforeseen issue with supply of material. The reason behind would be Vistara's fleet expansion and scaling up of cabin crew strength.

Vistara is actively working with suppliers to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

In a Twitter notification, Vistara said, "given our fleet expansion, we have been scaling up our cabin crew strength as well. However, due to an unforeseen issue with the supply of material, Vistara is experiencing limited availability of its cabin crew uniforms."

However, the Gurugram-based airline has found an interim solution.

While not an ideal measure, Vistara added that "but with the objective of ensuring business continuity and smooth operations to the maximum extent, we have found an interm solution."

As part of its interim solution, in the coming days, some of Vistara's cabin crew may be seen performing their duties in black-coloured trousers and polo t-shirts which will have the airline's logo instead of their standard aubergine uniform.

Further, Vistara said, "we are actively working with our suppliers to resolve the issue as quickly as possible."

Also, Vistara assured its customers that irrespective of this temporary uniform crisis, the focus of its cabin crew remains to deliver world-class customer service.

"We thank our customers for their co-operation and understanding," Vistara finally concluded.

Vistara is a joint venture of Tata Sons and Singapore Airlines (SIA), wherein Tata Sons holds 51% stake in partnership and Singapore Airlines owns 49% stake. The company is registered as TATA SIA Airlines.

Since starting operations, Vistara connects 43 destinations in and outside of India, operates over 260 flights a day with a fleet of 54 aircraft including 41 Airbus A320, 5 Boeing 737-800NG, 5 Airbus A321neo and 3 Boeing B787-9 Dreamliner. Vistara has already flown more than 35 million happy customers.
