PremiumIndia's biggest IT services exporter Tata Consultancy Services or TCS has expanded its long-standing partnership with Walgreens Boots Alliance (WBA), which is into the business of retail and wholesale pharmacy, to transform its IT operating model. "TCS has expanded its long-standing partnership with Walgreens Boots Alliance, a global leader in retail and wholesale pharmacy, to transform the latter's IT operating model. The contract is valued at over $1.5 billion over a ten-year period," TCS said in a BSE filing.
Walgreens Boots Alliance is into the business of retail and wholesale pharmacy. lncluding equity method investments, WBA has a presence in more than 25 countries, employs more than 440,000 people and has more than 18,750 stores.
The expansion of the WBA and TCS strategic partnership is based on WBA's review of its lT operating model and vendor landscape, TCS said. As a result, the WBA global lT team will focus on leading and supporting strategic technology projects that create customer value through the development of new digital products and services on its business platforms while TCS will provide run and operational managed services, including application maintenance and support, infrastructure and security operations, the Indian outsourcer said.
"The TCS strategic partnership will enhance our ability to rapidly address evolving business needs, support large-scale global technology solutions and promote investment in truly differentiating capabilities through a modernized platform," WBA Senior Vice President and Global Chief Information Officer Francesco Tinto said in a statement.
Ashish Khurana, head of retail industry solutions at TCS, said. "We will leverage our contextual knowledge of WBA's business ecosystem to harness the power of digital technologies to streamline and scale-up their lT operations, while helping accelerate transformational initiatives that enhance the customer experience."
